Research & Skills

I am a material scientist with a background in physics, specialised in the synthesis and operando characterisation of conversion-type electrode materials. During my PhD studies, I investigated particle size dependent reaction kinetics of iron oxide using multiple operando techniques, such as X-ray diffraction, small angle scattering and a custom-built operando magnetometry system. At the MLZ, I am working on Li-ion and Li-metal battery systems using operando X-ray and neutron scattering techniques to understand underlying reasons behind cell failure mechanisms. Additionally, neutron depth profiling with its unique sensitivity to lithium isotopes will be used as complementary method to gain insights into lithium distribution and interfacial processes within solid-state battery components.

Applied Methods:
  • X-ray/Neutron diffraction
  • Neutron depth profiling
  • Small-angle neutron scattering
