Peng Yan
I am a materials scientist with a background in electrochemistry and battery materials, specialising in lithium batteries and advanced electrochemical characterisation. My research focuses on the investigation of degradation mechanisms in high-energy electrode materials and electrolyte-electrode interfacial processes using a combination of electrochemical, spectroscopic, and structural characterisation techniques.
My previous work focused on understanding the structure-property relationship between electrolyte components with different cell chemistries by combining high-throughput screening and machine learning techniques. In addition, I have worked extensively with electrochemical techniques as well as X-ray-based methods, spectroscopy, microscopy, and operando characterisation to establish correlations between material properties, interfacial reactions, and electrochemical performance.
At the MLZ, my research focuses on lithium-ion and lithium-metal battery materials within the LiSI-3 project. By combining operando X-ray and neutron diffraction techniques with electrochemical characterisation, I aim to gain deeper insights into structural and interfacial processes during battery operation and contribute to the development of more sustainable and durable batteries.
