DEVA-Steca Workshop

DEVA-Steca Workshop

The Data Evaluation Group is pleased to announce a 1-day joint DEVA-STRESS SPEC workshop on SteCa software on 7th December 2023 in the Glaspalast at FRM II. This workshop is intended to familiarize participants with basic concepts of material characterization such as evaluation of textures and residual stresses in materials from their neutron diffraction patterns. It will include lectures and detailed demonstration of the SteCa software tool to analyse the 2D-detector data of neutron strain scanner STRESS-SPEC and x-ray materials diffractometers, to obtain peak positions, widths, and intensities, which will then be exported and processed to calculate strains/stress and texture. The participants will have the possibility to gain experience in using this software at a beginner’s level and learn to interpret the analytical results on practical examples.

The workshop is open for all students and scientists belonging to MLZ User community, as well as those belonging to MLZ partner institutions. It is limited to 15 participants on a first come, first served basis. Participants are expected to bring their own laptops. The SteCa software can be downloaded from
