Neutron Methods
The Neutron Methods group at MLZ drives cutting-edge science through modern instrumentation and techniques. Through workshops and events, the group fosters the exchange of knowledge and professional development centred around instrumentation, sample environment optimisation, neutron optics advancement, detector development, and complementary lab technique instrumentation. Additionally, it focuses on software development for instrument control, data analysis, and simulation, emphasising FAIR data practices. Future activities include further training workshops and collaborative events to sustain scientific progress and staff development.
Group activities and achievements
Cutting-edge scientific research at MLZ is propelled by modern instrumentation and techniques. To further facilitate the development of new methods and techniques, the Neutron Methods group was established in 2012. This group serves as a forum for scientists at MLZ to exchange ideas and knowledge, thereby supporting applications in many different fields of the scientific usage at MLZ. This is also reflected in the fact that the members of the Neutron Methods group span the entire range of MLZ instruments, and many of the participants are also active in other science groups. As depicted in fig. 1, the group’s role covers all essential aspects that are critical to scientific progress.
