Research & Skills

I am a chemist with a background in inorganic solid-state synthesis and structural characterisation using diffraction-based methods. My research focuses on understanding structure-property relationships in functional materials. During my PhD, I worked on high-pressure/high-temperature synthesis and single-crystal structure analysis of novel manganese oxyhalides. I later used topochemical approaches to tune magnetic properties in transition metal oxysulfides, as well as laser structuring of battery materials and their electrochemical characterisation.

At the MLZ, my research focuses on understanding the influence of water-based binders on high-voltage cathode active materials in lithium-ion batteries during electrochemical cycling. To understand degradation mechanisms, various X-ray and neutron scattering techniques are combined to get insights into structural and interfacial changes.

Applied Methods:
  • X-ray/Neutron diffraction
  • Neutron depth profiling
  • Small-angle neutron scattering
