Café and cosmos (Café und Kosmos)

Science in zero gravity (Wissenschaft in der Schwerelosigkeit)

Without the force of gravity, many things behave very differently than we are used to:
A burning candle, for example, is not a yellow flame in zero gravity, but a bluish ball.
a bluish ball. Soap bubbles turn out to be surprisingly thick-skinned,
grains come together to form clusters. Experiments in weightlessness
allow us to understand processes that are otherwise superimposed by gravity and we can measure them can measure them with high precision. However, the effort involved is great, whether on
on board a parabolic flight, a rocket or on the International Space Station ISS.
Dr. Lucas Kreuzer from the Technical University of Munich reports on his own experiences at this
Café & Kosmos about his own experiences with weightlessness, and about the
experiments and insights he has gained in the process.
