I/2025
|
Dear MLZ users,
connecting the Neutron Guide Hall East to the neutron source via neutron guides is a huge step towards enabling users to operate the instruments there. Take a look at our photo gallery for more information. You can also learn about a new ‘colleague’ at J-NSE Phoenix and meet two award winners!
Enjoy reading,

I am pleased to announce the upcoming inauguration ceremony of the Neutron Guide Hall East on October 13th. We are honoured to have the participation of the Federal Minister of Research, Technology and Space, Dorothee Bär, and the Bavarian State Minister for Science and Arts, Markus Blume. Their presence demonstrates the strong commitment of both the federal and state governments to neutron science.
Their significant financial contributions enabled the construction of the new neutron guide hall, which, together with the new instruments, provides unprecedented possibilities for neutron research in Garching. We would like to express our sincere gratitude to our funding bodies, cooperation partners, and employees whose dedication made this project possible.
The East Hall will be inaugurated in a festive ceremony attended by further distinguished guests, including TUM President Prof. Dr. Hofmann and Jülich Board of Directors Member Prof. Dr. Laurens Kuipers, among others. We eagerly await the benefits of this endeavour when FRM II resumes operation in 2026.
Dr. Michael Schulz (Deputy Scientific Director FRM II)

Finally reaching the East
 |
A further milestone was reached in the connection of the Neutron Guide Hall East to the reactor: The neutron guide for POWTEX, the upcoming high-intensity time-of-flight diffractometer, has been installed.
