Materials Science Lab
In collaboration with HZG and TUM, the Materials Science Lab serves as laboratory for complementary analytics and sample preparation (polishing, cutting, etching, and annealing) with regard to subsequent neutron scattering measurements. It is equipped with several analytic instruments for instance X-ray Diffractometer (XRD) mainly for battery research, thin films (XRR) and high-performance materials, Differential Scanning Calorimeter (DSC), Micro-Hardness and Optical Microscopes.
Equipment:
Analytic instruments:
Hecus S3 MicroPix – Small Angle X-ray Scattering
(outsourced to Prof. Müller-Buschbaum, TUM Physik E13)
** SAXS: Pilatus 2D detector 84 × 34 mm², q-range 0.1 -60 Å
** WAXS: 1D wide angle detector, 2Theta 18° – 30°
** In-situ annealing of solid-, liquid- or powder samples from -20°C up to +300°C.
Preparation instruments:
Well Diamond Wire Saw
ATM BRILLANT 200 – corundum wheel saw
ATM OPAL 410 – resin sample hot embedding
ATM SAPHIR 520 – polishing machine
Binder – vacuum heating cabinet (200°C)
