Scientists Meet Scientists

Wednesday Coffee Talk by Dr. Markus Hölzel (FRM II) about "Crystal Structures of Fluorine revisited by Neutron Diffraction"

SPODI Prof. Florian Kraus and his colleague Dr. Sergei Ivlev at the SPODI powder diffractometer.

Prof. Ernst Rank and the TUM-IAS team invite the scientists of TUM and their guests for coffee each Wednesday! Just come over to the TUM-IAS after lunch between 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. and have a coffee with us, meet other scientists and listen from time to time to a short talk (10-15 mins) on a recent major TUM publication or issue – aimed specifically at a non-expert audience.

On 2 May 2019 (exeptionally a thursday) Dr. Markus Hölzel (FRM II) will talk about “Crystal Structures of Fluorine revisited by Neutron Diffraction”. A research team has now clarified the actual structure of the fluorine using neutrons from the Heinz Maier Leibnitz Research Neutron Source.

Relevant Publication:
The Crystal Structures of α- and β-F2 revisited. Sergei I. Ivlev, Antti J. Karttunen, Markus Hoelzel, Matthias Conrad, Florian Kraus. Chemisty – A European Journal, 2019. DOI:10.1002/chem.201805298.

We look forward to seeing you there!
