The MLZ group “Structure Research” invites to a free workshop titled “Solution of Crystal Structures using FOX”. The workshop will be held on December1 from 9-17 in the gate Garching (Lichtenbergstraße 8, 85748 Garching).

The workshop addresses to experienced FOX-users as well as to scientists who want to use it in the future. The number of participants is limited to 20 and the workshop is headed by the FOX authors and additional experts who can therefore intensively take care of the participants. All participants must use their own laptops. The workshop is free of charge, but interested scientists have to contact Dr. Anatoliy Senyshyn by phone (+49 (0) 89 289 14316) or email (senyshyn@frm2.tum.de) for registration.

FOX for “Free Objects for Crystallography” and is a free software developed by Vincent Favre-Nicolin and Radovan Cerny at the Laboratory of Crystallography in Geneva. The diffraction pattern which a molecule provides with neutrons or X-rays can be transferred with the help of this software in the appropriate detailed three-dimensional structure. The 3D image allows the scientists a lot more in-depth insights into the structure and function of a molecule. In the last years, hundreds of organic, inorganic and organometallic compounds already have been illustrated and published. FOX can be downloaded under http://fox.vincefn.net/ in different versions for Windows, Linux and Mac.
